Those who are devoted to lying, like a worshiper devoted to his idol, seek only what aligns with their whims in their speech; it is as if their ears were created only to hear what pleases them, not what rectifies them. Their hearts are molded by falsehood, not knowing the path to truth, nor do they heed its voice.

And what crime has truth committed but to uncover the flaws of their souls, to expose their faces? Whoever speaks it goes against them; whoever proclaims it harms them; whoever advises with it disturbs them, and may even become their enemy, simply because truth is bothersome to those who wish to hear nothing but lies!
